Band: Arkaea Arkaea is an industrial groove metal band formed in 2008 featuring members from Threat Signal/strong> and Fear Factory. The band was formed by Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera who had recorded a demo for a new band. They sent the demo to Threat Signal vocalist Jon Howard who laid down some vocals and after finding a suitable bass player in Pat Kavanagh, Arkaea was born. And of course the birth of a band is followed by a debut album called “Years In The Darkness” in this case. Knowing this would come from Fear Factory band members, I had high hopes for this one and unfortunately fans of the good old stuff from back in the days are going to be a bit disappointed. The vocals loose their power because of the lack of variation and the choruses sound very much like Linkin Park’s early work so it will have a familiar feeling to it. The good thing is that besides the vocals, there are some killer guitar riffs and tones on the album in the style of a messuggah/devil driver kind of blend, so you will get blow away by this album.
