CD REVIEW Ricky Warwick

Band: Ricky Warwick
Album title: Belfast Confetti
Label: Demolition
Distributor: Demolition
Release date: 27/04/2009
Release: CD

"Belfast Confetti" is already the 3rd solo album of Ricky Warwick (ex The Almighty) but it is my first and I was a bit caught off guard. No more heavy guitar riffs but 11 acoustic songs. "Belfast Confetti" will surprise you like it did me. In songs like "Can't wait for tomorrow" , "The Arms of Belfast Town" , "Hanks blues" and "Can't hurt a fool" Ricky is getting in touch with his Irish roots. So if you are a sucker for folk music...then you gonna love this. But my favorite tracks are "Belfast Confetti" , "If your gonna bleed (wear black) " and "Punchin Thunder". These ballads are real beauties in the finest singer/songwriter tradition. Ricky has mixed all his musical influences into this album and relived his misspent youth through his songs.  Snap out of it Ricky and re-animate The Almighty...

50/100
