Formed in 1992 by Jan Pauwels, Tim’s Favourite was originally a thrash project until Elie De Backer joined him and a band began to take shape. In 2003, they entered a studio in Belgium (with the help of session musicians) to record their first cd called Noises from the Darkroom which would mark more or less the beginning of Buzzville label.. They began to expand their horizons as they faced line-up additions and changes. Now it’s six years later and they have finally released their follow up called Geometry For The Selfish Herd.
They have the 90s sound imbedded and bring the grunge/alternative, but metallic sound to the masses. Elements of Tool, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, The Tea Party, Stone Temple Pilots,… are prominent influences in the bands music on tracks such as “Piggy ways”, “The believer”, “Hellcrown” and “Uncertainty principle” (the latter being possibly the best song on the album). Even check out “Nothing but” as it has a Celtic folky flare with some soaring guitar work..Jan opts not for a high voice, but a slightly gruff lower approach that works relatively well. His limited range is noticeable on“Freak of energy” and “Buy more” .
Seek this one out. Trust me, it'll be worth the effort.
