Band : Heaven’s Basement Album Title : Heaven’s Basement Label : Own Release Distributor : Own Release Release Date : 09/02/2009 Release : CDS It’s a fairly rare event for a band to self-release any music on CD before they’ve signed to a label. These days everyone throws mp 3’s at the internet and therefore this EP is a sweet anachronism. Heaven’s Basement is a British rock band that is very much inspired by eighties hair metal bands such as Quiet Riot. They try to get the bombast of Guns ‘n’ Roses or the wilderness years of AC/DC but Heaven’s Basement merely sound like them. They sound more like a new band for the first time on stage. The six songs listed on the EP are rather stereotypical songs with a glimpses of potential. The self-titled EP contains bluesy, ballsy tunes. Each track is packed with sing along choruses and tons of solid guitar work. Three songs have something more. “Tear Your Heart Out”, “Executioner’s Day” en “Reign On My Parade” are really party gutter rock. This band has potential but must grow. At this moment the looks are more eye catching than their music but as the music grows in the same way as their live performances Heaven’s Basement is a band that will survive in the rock metal world 72/100 Guido Claes. |
