Review: CD

UK-based formation Huron was formed in late 2005 in Plymouth. The quartet (Sean Palmer-v, Phil Griffin-b, Neil Sims-g, and Steve Wile-d) entered the Red House Farm with producer and Rising-owner Mark Daghorn (who also produced for bands as Soundshok, Trigger The Bloodshed, Early Grave, Nex or A Poetic Yesterday) for the recording of Cheyne Stoking, which is another name for man’s last breath(s). The result is an extremely dirty and sleazy collection of Southern / Groove tracks with elements from (traditional) Doom, Sludge and Stoner. A few moments I can even detect a slightly punkish touch of seventies Rock within the tracks. The main tempo differs between slow and mid-tempo, but several parts are pretty fast and thrashy.
Think Mastodon, High On Fire, Misfits, Mugwart, Blessing The Hogs, Mothertrucker, Sabbath, Crüe amongst others…

75/100
