Band: Handful Of Hate This Italian band started in 1993 (formed by only remaining original member Nicola Bianchi) and throughout the years they did release several excellent mini and full length albums (on vinyl and CD). About four years ago, Handful Of Hate signed to Cruz Del Sur Music, which led to the release of the highly acclaimed fourth full length Gruesome Splendour (one of the best albums from 2006, by the way, or at least one of my favourites that very same year) and this new epos continues the very same path. The album, with duration of about forty minutes, was recorded with a completely refreshed line-up, but the cohesion between and within the tracks is superb, as if the members were playing together for all eternity. And musically this album goes on in the vein of all former material, but just more mature and professional in technical approach and anti-human totality. Like before, especially the Swedish scene seems to be of influence - think Dark Funeral, Marduk, Setherial, Sorhin etc. Don’t get me wrong: Handful Of Hate aren’t just copying one of these bands. The comparison has to do with the extreme and overpowering sound, the utter darkness, the fastness with detail for some slower parts, the equilibrium between melody and brutality, as well as the darkening grimness within atmosphere and production. You Will Bleed lacks of modern gadgets and it exhales a purest old school underground spirit. Indeed, this stuff rules! 93/100 Ivan Tibos. |
