Review: CD

Inferno, the one from the Czech Republic, releases one of the most intense and grim Black Metal albums from 2009 in co-operation with one of the most important Black-labels nowadays, Polish Agonia Records. The quintet (Adramelech-v, lyrics; Azazel-g, music; Sarapis-d; Ska-Gul-g, k, music; and Pentaroth-b) brings an oppressing and sinister form of fast yet melodic Black Terror with a trans-European (I hear the Swedish scene amongst others) musical approach and a nightly, somewhat underground-oriented sound (recording + mix were done at the Shaark Studios). For about forty seven minutes Black Devotion stands for a morbid combination of blasphemy, fury and misanthropy, honouring the old school as well as the current one. The only anti-feeling might be little variation between the armageddonish tracks, yet because of the superb individual quality, this Black Magic Ritual for darkness called Black Devotion might be one of 2009’s highlights.
