Although Havok is considered a Trash Metal Band, which they are of course, there’s a slight edge to them.  Indeed, although the approach to the music is similar to other trash bands, so fast guitar riffs, almost machinegun-like drumming etc. they also have a more technical approach.  Just listen to the solo on “Identify Theft”, which reminds me of classic Maiden.

But besides the fact that these guys have some serious musicianship, Havok is just another trash band.  Even if at times there are hints of classical stuff, for instance in some songs the vocals remind me a bit of Exodus Bonded by Blood period, but that’s about it.  There just isn’t enough diversity in them.
I’m afraid in this musical context, with just too many groups popping up – and disappearing again, and on top of that the musical companies who also try to cut their costs, Havok will have to do a bit better than this.

55/100
