CD REVIEW Ramming Speed

Band : Ramming Speed
Album title : Brainwreck
Label : Candlelight Records
Distribution: PHD
Release Date : 03/08/2009
Release : CD

This is the first album by this band, which exists since 2007.

When I first listened to this album, at first glance I thought, well, this almost sounds like Dropkick Murphys on a combination of speed, exstacy, and a lot of other not so legal substances.

On a second listening I had to alter my opinion. This Is music based on illegal substances. The first four songs are over before you know it.  Even The Ramones wrote longer songs, average length of the songs varies between a minute and a half (the shortest) and 3 minutes 20 seconds.  One song however is, by their standards, quite long, and that’s the last song on the album Heavy Metal Thunder, and that’s for me the best song on the album.
Guitar work is over all superfast and aggressive, going rather toward punk/hardcore, except on this last song.
Having grown up with Hard Rock and classic Heavy Metal, this is not really my cup of tea, but I suppose real trashers with a broad mind would appreciate this.

59/100
