Band: Invictus Where “Black Heart” stopped, “Persecution” picks it up and takes it further. French progressive symphony metal band Invictus featuring Michael Fitrzyk (guitars), Ferderic Glo (lead Vocals), Raphael Leger (drums) and Nicolas Acard (bass) are back with a new arsenal of licks, riffs and fills. But will they please or displease their fans with this one? The album starts off pretty cool, with its symphony influences, giving it an epic edge, but after a few minutes it all turns into something “metal meets pop alliance” and takes a bit of that big feeling away. Although there are good songs and there is lots of variation on the disc, it feels like they wanted to please to many different people and did 12 different genres. Due to its variation and being very versatile the album will be a good welcome for people new to metal or people that just like to hear different material. 83/100 Jeroen. |
