Band : Sonata Arctica "The Days of Grays" is the sixth studio album by this Finnish band, and continues in the tradition of it's predecessor "Unia". Gone is the superfast power metal, which is replaced by a more progressive, even symphonic style. Singer Tony Kakko seems to have improved his pronunciation since the last two albums, which is also a very positive step forward. As well as an improved pronunciation of the English language, he's also changed his style of singing a little bit, by which I mean that he doesn't go into overdrive as much as before; except maybe on "Flag In The Ground", which is els the first single taken from the album. As was the case before with Sonata Arctica, the songs sound bombastic, but with fantastic musicians as these this is no problem, at times it sounds even as if there was a complete orchestra at work. 93/100 Erik Morren. |
