Review: Split-MCD

This concept isn’t a new one. I mean, it has been done before, bands that play each others songs on the same recording. Especially the great War-albums on Season Of Mist were highly appreciated by (it).
In the case of Cross Contamination (or is it ‘Crosscontamination’?), two bands from Holland are represented. Batmobile, consisting of Jeroen (g, v) and Eric (b, production) Haamers and Johnny Zuidhof (d), isn’t as well-known as the second band on this project-CD, Peter Pan Speedrock, yet this almost legendary Psychobilly band does certainly give its own face to those PPS-cover songs. Catchy Rock with a Rockabilly-edge, Batmobile does what the band has always been doing: combining Rock with Roll!
Another story is Peter Pan Speedrock’s. This formation may be one of the ‘hugest’ from the Netherlands. This band’s Rock with an old school edge and many influences from (early) Metal (NWOBHM, pre-Speed/Thrash Metal, Doom’n’Roll, …) isn’t that renewing, yet it certainly is refreshing. Motörhead, Bible Of The Devil, Mudhoney and so on, yet again with its own approach! …and in this case with five Batmobile-cover songs…
