Review: CD

When the Stockholm-based formation Degradead recorded their first demo tape, Death Row, In FlamesJesper Strömblad offered his help to the promising band. Degradead entered In Flames’ home studio and recorded their debut, Till Death Do Us Part, with productional assistance of some In Flames-members. This debut was received very well by a huge audience and got the necessary attention in the (international) media. For the second album, the band Anders Nyström-g, Mikael Sehlin-v, Kenneth Helgesson-d, Michel Bärzén-b, and David Szücs-g) entered the Abyss and Black Lounge Studios with Jonas Kjellgren, while the mix was done with Daniel Bergstrand at his DugOut Studio. Out Of Body Experience mainly goes on in the vein of the debut, meaning: firm and rhythmic melodic Death Metal with a modern Stockholm-approach. The catchy songs are mainly mid- to up-tempo-based, filled with fast guitar solos, a massive rhythm section and varying vocals: grunts, growls, screams and melodic vocals. Those tracks aren’t bad at all, on the contrary, but I’m not sure this album will be noticed because of the over-release of same-minded material. But if you’re a fan of modern and catchy melodic Death Metal with a thrashy edge, then this album might be a possibility. Duration: fifty one minutes.
