Band : Toxpack Although I got to hear this Berliner Hardcore Punk/ Street Punk band’s music for the first time just recently, they are hardly an unknown entity in Germany! Founded in 2001, they’ve been getting an evergrowing fanbase over the years, playing hundreds of gigs in both venues and at bigger festivals, getting the main support slot to tours of (among others) Discipline, Pro-Pain, The Business, Mad Sin, as well as having managed a couple of home country headliner tours as well! And in 2008 they made it outside their own boarders towards France, Italy, Austria, and Spain! As far as releases go, the band’s been very productive, debuting with 2001’s Stadtgeflüster(CD on Bad Dog Records, re-issued on vinyl through Scene Attack Records in 2006). The band then joins the DSS Records imprint, for which it records 2002’s EP Racheengel, plus full-length Die andere Seite and EP Vergeltungin 2004. Weirdly enough, Meuterei Records first re-issues the band’s 2003 full-length on picture-disc vinyl in 2004, then issues the Aggressive Kunst full-length on CD a year later…but the picture-disc version of thàt album comes through Puke Music Records. In 2007 the band then comes with Cultus Interruptus (CD through DSS Records, LP through Randale Records). In keeping with a tradition started on previous albums, which has seen the likes of Roger Miret (Agnostic Front), Mickey Fitz (The Business), Köfte (Mad Sin) and Atze (Tropers) join the Berliners in the studio for a guest vocal contribution, the band has this time invited Gary Meskill (of Pro-Pain) and Discipline’s Joost De Graaf and Eric Wouters for contributions on “No Remorse” and “Steig Ein” respectively…both tracks containing partial English lyrics. “Uhm?” I hear you think! Well yeah, usually the guys sing in their native language, which gives their mostly up-pace and driven Street Punk with fringes of both Hardcore and Rock ‘n’ Roll a feel quite of its own! Beyond the possibly misleading words, there’s the music…which you can discover at myspace.com/toxpackstreetcore (only one songs off the new album, but the other 6 – 3 off Cultus Interruptus & 3 off the preceeding Aggressive Kunst) are indeed very representative! No idea when the guys will be touring next: they have a few gigs planned until the end of year, but then they also have their album release party ONLY on Dec. 18! Anyway, in the meantime they’ve shot a video for album track “Ohne Mich”, and they’ve announced to regularly change the featured song off this album at their MySpace page. 85/100 |
