Band : Goliath Goliath, a relatively obscure US group who released their only album in 1970 at Allen-Martin Studios in Louisville, KY, gets the reissue treatment from Gear Fab and though the recording quality’s inevitably dated, this loose, rural psych/hard rock album offers a varied palate of pleasures. Featuring only original material (four of the five members contributing songs), Goliath offer up a competent, if pedestrian mix of rock, country-rock, little jazz, folk and even psych touches. Great songs like "Sunny days" build from a gentle ballad into a beautiful Hammond organ workout whilst “Kwak” is a 7 minute bluesy workout with excellent blazing guitarsolos. The song-writing is also very solid, as are the backing vocals and melodies; quite a few of the tracks have licks and tricks that could've been placed right on Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, Rare Earth and CCR-albums and fit right in.
