Band : Staind Album Title : The Way I Am Label : Roadrunner Records Distributor : Concreteweb Promotion - CNR Release Date : 22/12/2008 Release : CD Single "The Way I Am” is the first single of the forthcoming and already sixth studio album “The Illusion Of Progress” by the American band Staind. Vocalist Aaron Lewis sings on this song “You'll Never Change" and that’s what this is all about. Staind are for nearly a decade the most immovable post-grunge loyalists, fiercely committed to the genre's basics. With mid tempo songs in minor keys, sullen vocals and lyrics that will always tell you the same message: life sucks and then you die. Staind stays with their old sound but that doesn’t automatically mean that the song sucks. This song with excellent drums, memorable bass line and prolific vocals is very catchy. Hopefully the new album will sound a little bit like this first song. “The Way I Am” brings the tempo into a more melodic feel. It’s quite a good song once it has been listened to a couple of times. But overall the song “The Way I Am” is sophomoric poetry at his best, with a simple ‘the way I am is the way I am’ finishing off the chorus via adolescent extremes. 75/100 Guido Claes. |
