Band : Pure Reason Revolution Album Title : Amor Vincit Omnia Label : Inside Out Records Distributor : CNR Release Date : 23/02/2009 Release : CD Pure Reason Revolution is a British band searching their way in to the great scene of progressive rock and metal. With their new album “Amor Vincit Omnia” is certainly a step in the right direction and they will gain the public’s collective awareness on a large scale. Opening song “Les Malheurs” gives a good first impression with a heavy dose of electro pitch bends. There are unquestionably strong tracks on this album. The menacingly focused beats of “Bloodless” and the combination soundscape stylings and warped vocals on “Disconnect” are two examples of the band hitting a temporary peak. Although it cannot be sustained for the duration because large sections of many of these tracks are lacking depth, this album is interesting. Vocally “Amor Vincit Omnia” is remarkably moving with a flexible and wide range on display. And you can feel that the music on this album has been crafted remarkably well and with obvious thought poured into each one of its tracks. The last track on this new album “Avo” is wonderful with a more driving piano as its anchor. This could be the break through for Pure Reason Revolution. 78/100 Guido Claes. |
