Band : Asylum Given that this 27-minute cd The Earth Is The Insane Asylum Of The Universe is a 1985 demo from Maryland doom metal outfit Asylum (who later changed their name to Unorthodox, because their old record label requested it), I can't really fault them for having a muddy production, but they would have benefited vastly from an improved sound, but that’s half the fun of course. Now for the first time in 23 years, this recording is being officially released by Shadow Kingdom Records. The music on this album is exceptional and definitely something that I could really get into. My favorite element of this demo however are the suberb guitar solos by Dale Flood, a very underrated guitarist, definitely a plus. Combining Sabbath, Rush and Motorhead, Asylum deliver a rich, unique sound through swinging rhythms, swirling hooks that grab you by the nuts, furious axe work, and above all talented playing. All in all, something I'd definitely recommend checking out. Cosmicmasseur. |
