Band : Chickenfoot Chickenfoot is a new supergroup on the hard rock firmament, featuring singer Sammy Hagar (ex-Montrose, ex-Van Halen), guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, bass player Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen) and drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers). The combination of these four musicians gives fireworks as a result. The typical vocal capers of singer Sammy Hagar, the steady foundation of the great rhythm section Michael Anthony (bass and background vocals) and Chad Smith (drums) and last but not least the excellent guitar contributions from Joe Satriani who plays with no excesses endangering the collective band sound.
I dare to say: Chickenfoot have managed to make the album Van Halen fans are eagerly waiting for since the last studio album of Van Halen in 1998.
Wait and see if the actual Van Halen line-up, who made a successful North-American tour in 2007/2008 with David Lee Roth as singer and Wolfgang Van Halen (the son of Eddie Van Halen) on bass, are ever going to record new material…
And of course, the future will tell if Chickenfoot is a one time project or a real band that will make several albums… The self-titled album “Chickenfoot” contains 11 songs and has a playing time of 58 minutes.
Highlights are the opening track "Avenida Revolution", “Soap On A Rope”, the single “Oh Yeah”, “Get It Up”, "Down The Drain", the obligatory ballad“Learning To Fall” and the final track “Future Is The Past”. Look out for the exclusive package with heat sensitive artwork. 80/100 Erik Spruyt. |
