Band : Oresund Space Collective Goddamn, I was supposed to write this review four months ago, I've been living with these sounds for some time, and they're almost as familiar as any old album. Oresund Space Collective is a collective of primarily Scandinavian artists, eight of whom show up for their latest effort, Good Planets Are Hard To Find. The album has a strong jam vibe to it with only six rich and varied tracks, clocking in at approx. 80 minutes, it's entirely improv instrumental music, occasionally psychedelic, bluesy, dub, funk and kraut to different degrees and often quite spacey. So, while it’s easy to point out the obvious and call Oresund Space Collective a space rock project, I feel that would be selling them short. The titletrack and “MTSST” is the Oresund’s first foray into raga! And you can tell KG (Siena Root) had a blast playing the sitar, that became known in the western world through the work of Ravi Shankar, since it goes on for over 10 and 20 minutes. On the “Orbital elevator” and “PP746-3” I‘ll hear plenty of their space rocking tendencies, complete with mindbending and soaring guitar- and synthesizer solos and thumping rhythm section.. “My heel has a beard” is the shortest song (6:01) but still packs a punch. Oresund Space Collective have quite an extensive catalog up to date, but this is my favourite album so far.If you wanna enter the outer zone of OSC, come and see them live at JC Sojo, 18th of September as support of Hypnos 69. 95/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
