In Holland there are quite some bands that play along on a international level. Besides the fact that is are indeed fine musicians it also has to do with the pride and support those people have in their own country. In Belgium it’s slightly different. Over there, there are also bands that know how to rock and they would be able to play a roll of importance on an international level but they hardly succeed because their from Belgium. It’s about time that the small country loses that modesty because if you take a look at the career of After All you’ll notice that it is one to be more than proud of. They toured with Anthrax, Over Kill, Stone Sour and Agent Steel plus played big festivals such as Graspop. Now they deliver their seventh album and it beats by fare all the other releases from other bands that come out these days. This is stunning heavy metal from a very high level. After the catchy intro all hell breaks loose with ‘My Own Sacrifice’. And it doesn’t stay with that because tracks like ‘Devestation Done’ en ‘embracing Eternity’ sound like they come from a real bay Area band. Also a song like ‘hallow State’ sound perfect with the creepy feeling the band created. To end with After All shows that besides a very solid musical foundation they also have a very powerful frontman with Piet Focroul. What he does on Dio’s classic ‘Holy Diver’ is as good as what we heard on the Killswitch Engage version. Hopefully After All gets the credit they deserve with this new record.
