It all started in 1994 when Jarmo Puolakanaho, Altti Veteläinen and Olli-Pekka Törrö got together and tried some different metal projects and it wasn’t until the spring of 1994 that they recorded a new demo (The Seven Goddesses of Frost). At that moment, the band decided to change their name to more serious sounding “Eternal Tears of Sorrow”.

It was under this banner that the band knew some line up changes, a couple albums that scored high on the Finish charts and a European tour with Nightwish and Sinergy. And unfortunately a break up in 2003.

Luckily for the fans the band got back together in 2005 and were more determined than ever to make music. The band's sixth album "Children Of The Dark Waters” will come out 22 May 2009.

The album itself brings 10 Gothic metal songs. It has a couple songs that will become hits, but unfortunately the others witch are less good get overshadowed by these hit machines. The songs itself do sound strong like a real Viking (a melodic gothic Viking) is singing but at the end of the album you may miss some variation and you miss soloing guitars.

The most surprising thing about the album is that it isn’t a commercial sell out band with some girl who just sings in the same style throughout the album with no variation what so ever. No, this band has stayed loyal to their fans, didn’t sell out and released real strong music that everyone can enjoy.

75/100
