Originally going by the name of Gorgasm, debuted in 2005 with Neurotripsicks, but soon realized that another band went by that name (the Chicago band and so they changed name to Gorod). The Neurotripsicksalbum was re-released by Willowtip under their new name, and two years later their followup album, Leading Vision, was recorded. The band's new album, Process Of A New Decline, is the first full length for the extreme metal label Listenable Records (Gojira, The Amenta, Ultra Vomit, Hacride,…).
This French band plays a dense sort of technical death metal that relies on the sheer heaviness and thickness of their music, excrementing at least some mildly inventive guitar playing or distinctive songwriting to separate them from the pack. The vocalist constantly roars, the guitars crunch and demolish, and the hectic rhythm-section crack open some heads.
Though less mathematically driven, Gorod are no strangers to the ways of angular or the quantum physics of metal they grind and storm through 11 songs, prompting less jazzier Meshuggah and lesser freaky Coalesce comparisons along the way, but thankfully they never sound too chaotic.
