CD REVIEW Noxious

Band: Noxious
Album title: Timbre
Label: Destructist Music
Distributor: Two Side Moon/SLW Promotions
Release date: June 2009
Release: CD

From their start in 2004, Noxious worked hard to earn a reputation in America.
The past five years have seen them tour up and down the states and are now making noise in Europe and stand poised to take their own kind of rock around the world.
The album called Timbre sounds southern rock isch and has a good, calm vibe going on.
It reminds me of songs of the same genre like Sweet home Alabama. The music itself has a certain warmth to it and Chief Spires (on vocals and bass) knows how to use his voice to move people. If you’re into Kid rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd, this is your coup of tea. Perfect for putting on when having a bbq.

Now squeal like a piggy

Some people say that bands all sound the same these days. Some say that there is nothing original left to do and some even say that rock is dead.
Not if it’s up to these guys. Started in 2004, Noxious worked hard to get where they are today by doing radio spots, lots of gigs and comparing themselves to other good bands. Drawing influences from bands like Led Zepplin, Tool and Clutch, they still contain a certain original feeling. The album sounds raw what we all like in hard rock bands like these.
The album itself is pretty good with soulful singing (especially on opening track Broken) and has e certain southern groove throughout the whole cd.
The downside to this gem is that the guitar sound sometimes curses with the whole and gets irritating.
If you’re looking for a less talk more play band, you won’t regret buying this one.
