CD REVIEW Pericardium

Band: Pericardium
Album title: Salutary
Label: Two Side Moon
Distributor: SLW Promotions
Release date: June 2009
Release: CD

Hailing from the San Francisco bay area, Pericardium began it’s life in February 2006. It was a project of mixed genres from fuse to hip hop to jazz to metal. After getting a good amount of songs together and forming a full band, the guys released the album called “Apartheid of the Mind“.

Current line-up is has Sean E. Sullivan on guitar and vocals, bassist David Marshall, Mike Black on lead guitar and keys, and Luis Munoz on drums. These guys new 30-minute mini album “Salutary” shows the new direction that the band wants to go. But I have my doubts about the album, 30 minutes is short but in this case it’s not that bad.
All brilliant musicians in this band, but it doesn’t work and the translation of the songs gets lost in the mix of the different genres. It feels like a wave of music that sweeps you of the beach and puts you where the sharks are, a situation where you don’t want to be and because of this most people will turn down the band unless you’re a musician or you simply love blends and techniques.

65/100
