Rebellion (a German heavy-metal band was formed when guitarist Uwe Lulis left Grave Digger, taking ex-Grave Digger bassist Tomi Göttlich with him. Their first album was a concept album about William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and included spoken passages with members of the band and other people as the story’s characters.
The second album involved more standard heavy-metal lyrics like war and hate and made the music was rougher.
In 2005 they released the first part of what is intended to be a trilogy about the Vikings and Norse mythology. In the beginning of 2007 they released their second part in the trilogy about the vikings. It was titled “Miklagard” and was the band’s most successful album so far.
The third part, and last part of the trilogy, was first supposed to be released in 2008 but was later announced as postponed to early 2009.
And now they return to release a brand new digipak with new cool songs. And cool they are, it may be Viking metal (so not for everyone) but this is one of those few bands that make it really sound accessible for everyone. Upon hearing the opening track you will notice that you are stuck to your computer or stereo until the end of the disc. Nothing bad on this one , it has it all, lovely melodies, brutish hard riffs and even room for more slower emotional songs.
90/100
