Scale the Summit is an American instrumental progressive rock band based out of Houston, Texas.
They were formed in 2004 and are signed to Prosthetic Records, and draws influences for other progressive acts as Cynic and Dream Theater what always a good combination is if you’re looking for bands with a high skill in instruments.
The band’s line up contains Chris Letchford (guitar), Jordan Eberhardt (bass), Pat Skeffington (drums), Travis Levrier (guitar). That’s right, this is an instru-metal band with no vocals what so ever.
And that may be a bit of downer to some buyers. Although all the members are great performers and sometimes their songs have a jazz approach to it, It misses that vocals as an anchor to hold on to. So many great riffs, lick, solo’s, fills, … but it’s a bit to much of the good stuff. The songs also sound similar so you really can’t say witch is witch when you’re listening to them.
In the end it’s a really good album, but it may be more for musicians who can see the structures and appreciate it more.

75/100
