CD REVIEW The Lucifer Principle

Band: The Lucifer Principle
Title: Welcome To Bloodshed
Label: Apache Productions
Distribution: Suburban
Release date: 15/05/2009
Review: CD

I was enormously enthusiastic with The Lucifer Principle’s former full length, Pitch Black Dawn, which made me enthusiastic for this new album too. As before, this album was recorded with TexturesJochem Jacobs (mix, mastering) at the Split Second Sounds Studio (Tilburg, Holland); recording and engineering were done with Cees Pols in assistance with the band, and the album lasts for about forty one minutes.
For the better part, Welcome To Bloodshed goes on where Pitch Black Dawn ended. The Lucifer Principle (Earik Mensinga-v, Guido van de Graaf-g, Thomas de Bruijn-g, Mikhail Kulagin-d, and Mike Grunwald-stand up bass (!) ) still bring rather catchy and melodic yet groovy and stomping Death Metal with a slow to up-tempo rhythm and some Thrash-elements. Not one single track is renewing, but because the average quality is more than satisfying, it makes this band exceed the grey masses. Nevertheless I do miss the inspirational and overwhelming atmosphere of the former album. Welcome … unfortunately isn’t as enthralling as Pitch …, even though this release isn’t a step-back.
Ps: the track Bond Of Supremacy features guest vocals by God Dethroned’s Henri Sattler.
