“Scars & Souvenirs” is the third studio album of the Canadian post-grunge rock band
Theory Of A Deadman.
This third album follows after the previous recordings “Theory Of A Deadman” (2002) and “Gasoline” (2005).
The group from the neighbourhood around Vancouver, composed of frontman Tyler Connolly (vocals and guitar), bass player Dean Back and guitar player David Brenner, produces a sound similar to for instance Nickelback.
Maybe not so strange when you find out that Theory’s record label is 604 Records, the label owned by Nickelback’s singer Chad Kroeger.
Typical characteristic of this post-grunge rock sound are the mixture of hard-hitting up-tempo tracks with smooth rock ballads.
“Scars & Souvenirs” was already released in Northern America on April 1st 2008 and meanwhile reached the gold status (500.000 copies sold) in the USA.
The album was produced by Grammy-nominated Howard Benson (whose credits also include for instance Papa Roach, Hoobastank, My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects, POD and Daughtry).
“Scars & Souvenirs” contains 13 songs and has a playing time of 46 minutes.
Highlights are the powerful up-tempo tracks "So Happy", “Got It Made”, “Bad Girlfriend”, “Sacrifice” and the ballads “By The Way” (with additional vocals from Chris Daughtry), “Not Meant To Be”, "All Or Nothing", “Heaven (Little By Little)”, “Wait For Me”.
Theory Of A Deadman are regularly on tour in Northern America, but it remains unsure if the band is coming over sooner or later to perform some gigs in Europe.
