Review: CD

Believe it or not, but the Swedish band Vomitory is coming close to its twentieth anniversary! And throughout those two decades, the band did always stay true to its roots: the purity of the Swedish Old Skool. Carnage Euphoria is Vomitory’s newest creation, recorded with just one goal: to overpower all former releases! For thirty nine minutes, Carnage Euphoria continues the path of albums like Primal Massacre or Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize, not ever giving in to modern gadgets or studio-shopped additions. This album stands for (a part of) the real basics of (Swedish) Death Metal Superiority, with a mostly fast to blasting tempo, yet also with several slower parts. The members’ individual conviction equals the team’s craftsmanship, and that’s not different from the past. Besides, every detail fits: the rough and devastating sound, the strong compositions, the instrumental and vocal interaction, the morbid atmosphere and so on.
Possible remark: Carnage Euphoria is just another episode within Vomitory’s history, but I guess that, in case every album is as strong as (or stronger than) the former one(s), being renewing stinks. Why changing a winning team?
…and I’m sure that not only fans of the Swedish scene, yet also every fan of American and European sounding Death / Blast Metal will appreciate this album too!
