Band : Brainstorm Celebrating their twelve years existence Brainstorm releases this "Best of" CD, right on the heels of their latest album Memorial Roots. Anyway, it's a good overview of the albums that Brainstorm made while under contract with Metal Blade Records, since they're now with AFM. Now either you like German/ European Power Metal like this, or you don't. I'll rest my case, cause I've always had mitigated opinions about is. Some groups I like, Some I don't. In case of Brainstorm, well I rather like them. Maybe because stylewise and even vocally they sound a bit like old Judas Priest. For those of you who really like the band, and do not own the complete discography (some stuff only came out in Japan) this might be the ultimate Christmas present. There's also a Judas Priest cover on the album ("Before The Dawn" - nicely performed), and even a Tony Christie cover ("Is This The Way To Amarillo" - barf barf....). To sum it up : disc two covering their earlier albums, sounds far heavier than disc one. 73/100 Erik Morren. |
