Review: CD

A Construct Of Obliterate is the second release on Dutch Metal Records, after the killer recording First War by Warmaster.
The band, Dark Remains, was formed more than ten years ago by members who were / are involved with, for example, Eternal Solstice. The small label Cleansweep Productionsreleased Death Manifestation, followed by Planet Earth Scourged, which got released by Burning Misery Records. After some more line-up changes, the band (a quintet nowadays, with members who are also involved with Warmaster) recorded and mixed this newest epos at the A.M. Studio (Gouda, Holland) (result: average sound quality – especially the mix is too ‘hollow’). A Construct Of Obliterate, with a total running time of forty three minutes, goes on in the vein of the former recordings, meaning: merciless no-nonsense old skool Death Superiority! The musical interruptions vary a lot, also in tempo, yet the latter especially floats between slow and mid-tempo. The sound is heavy, heavy, heavy, and the quality of each individual composition is high, high, high. Besides the Dutch scene, also the Swedish, English and, especially, the American one might have been of influence again, so I guess this album may be highly recommended to every fan of, let’s say, Carnage, Incantation, Immolation, Gorefest, Warmaster, Entombed, Bolt Thrower, Six Feet under etc.
Oh yes, the album ends with the Mourning-song Demon’s Dance.
