Review: CD
First I thought my boss wanted to f*ck me mentally. To review a Nu Metal release, the idea itself made me nauseous. Yet I have to confess: in this case I do not care! Why? Well, Dirtfedd is such a band I do appreciate a lot, like Coal Chamber did.
The American Nightmare is an album that will certainly appreciated by fans of Coal Chamber, I guess, even though there are some specific details that are different between both formations. First of all I think the sound is much more industrialised, which does bring a band as Static-X to mind. Secondly, The American Nightmare sounds groovier than most Nu Metal-bands used to sound like.
However, besides Static-X and Coal Chamber, I must also think about early Korn, Slipknot (by the way, the label is owned by Slipknot’s Clown aka Shawn Crahan), American Head Charge and Deftones, and the narrow border between this music with other styles such as Southern Rock, Metalcore, Groove, Punk / Hardcore and (Thrash) Metal, makes it all even more interesting to some.
Not original, yet refreshing and convincing for this specific audience!
