Band: Europe Swedish hard rock band Europe from returns after 3 years with a new studio album that hits stores in September. But until then we will have to do with this EP containing 5 songs (witch will also feature on the full album) till the album comes out. For you who don’t know whom I’m talking/writing about, Europe was a band that used to be called Force that first saw light in 1979. Later on and after a couple of line up changes the band finally changed their name and got really big with their hit song “The Final Countdown”. After that the band still produced hits but never to the same level as before. So I was very curious to hear this one. Upon hearing the opening track you’ll notice the guys are back to conquer what was there’s. The band uses more symphonic elements to reach that apotheosis we all love in certain songs. To be honest due to certain new elements (like more modern kind of riff usage) they lose a bit of that 70’s/80’s feeling and sound more like modern Aerosmith kind of bands. But if that is a bad thing, than it’s still a small price to pay to wait for September. 89/100 Jeroen. |
