Band : Highway Child
From Denmark comes this stunning and quite refreshing balls-out cocking band who mixes simple Led Zeppelin/Cream/Stones/Free -style instrumentation with touches of psychedelia via competent vocals. Dig the smokin ' “Fallout” with frantic lead guitarwork , boogie to the hand-clapping “Change yourself”, sweat to the Hellacopters knockout “Sit on my face”, pound to the catchy “Highway child”, the riffs sizzle and Patrick is in very good vocal-shape, and there is more than enough energy, emotion, chops, and songwriting power to keep things interesting. “Branded a fool” has an amazing flow and grows on you. It's an easy going ballad giving Patrick's expressive vocals room to unfold accompanied by great guitar work, by far one of the sweetest songs on the CD. The same goes for “Standing in the rain”, which is another strong and emotional Led Zeppelin- like smoothie rocker .. On “Just like you” Paw has ample opportunities to shred and he really comes out with excellent aggressive and melodic riffs and solos. The album ends with “Highway child”. The song is the perfect closer, because the groovy song incorporates everything Highway Child is about.
