Band: Vanmakt The Swedish horde Vanmakt (M. Svensson-g, v, music and lyrics; M. Wohlfart-g; V. Dahlgren-b; and session drummer Liedheim) recorded this new epos at EPM Studio with Björn Lindberg, while mix and mastering were done at the famous Necromorbus Studio with Tore Stjerna (Valkyrja, Nominon, Repugnant, In Battle, Damnation Army a.o.). Ad Luciferi Regnum stands for fifty minutes of magisterial and impressing Black Metal with a Swedish approach. Many parts are rather fast and comparable to the deadliest Marduk, Dark Funeral or Setherial-hymns, but Vanmakt include their own elements. A few tracks are more epic-oriented, some are slower and contain an almost Gothic touch (The Ascension, for example), and besides the band injects their Black Metal with several technical riffs and enough variation. The performance is convincing, the sound is perfect (decent and powerful) and the atmosphere is oppressing and ominous - the way it must be! 88/100 Ivan Tibos. |
