In The Black is the fifth studio album of the Canadian all-girl metal band Kittie. The band was formed in 1996 in Ontario and has since then known their fair share of line-up changes, most of them bass players. Nonetheless, throughout their career, the girls managed to sell 1,25 million copies of their four previous albums.

The current line-up consists of front woman Morgan Lander (vocals, guitar), her sister Mercedes Lander (drums), guitar player Tara McLeod and new bass player Ivy Vujic.
Distinctive for Kittie are the penetrating vocals / growls of Morgan Lander in combination with the thunderous rhythm section and edgy guitar riffs. In comparison to their previous albums, singer Logan now tries something different vocally with more singing and less screaming. It’s clear that during the years the girls have evolved from NU metal to alternative metal. In The Black contains 12 songs and has a playing time of 41 minutes. After the instrumental “Kingdom Come”, the album contains the following highlights: “My Plague”, “Cut Throat”, “Sorrow I Know”, “Forgive And Forget”, “Ready Aim Riot” and “The Truth”, where Justin Wolfe of Thine Eyes Bleed sings along.

Kittie undertake an European tour in January 2010 with dates at Kade in Zaandam (the Netherlands) on January 13th , Bibelot in Dordrecht Rijssen (the Netherlands) on January 14th and at JC Klinker in Aarschot (Belgium) on January 15th. Oh yeah, did you know that the Lander sisters have their own clothing line? Check out Poisoned Black Clothing.
