Band : Pink Cream 69 Twenty years in their existence, and two years after their latest effort, Pink Cream 69 strikes back with a bang. They released not only this double live CD, recorded in their hometown Karlsruhe, but also released this as a DVD, which contains not only the highlights of this show, but many many extra's. Since these guys know how to write and perform decent songs, the only thing that could ruin this CD was a bad production, but as could be expected, production is top notch, but not overdone, as in some other live albums.. What also strikes me is that you really don't get to hear the audience that much. Apparently, singer David Readman had been sick a few days before the show, but this had no impact on his great voice. The guitar sound is awesome, which can probably be explained by the second guitarist Uwe Reitenaur who joined the group some time ago. I cannot say which song I prefer, but I admit I was pleasantly surprised by their medley from a song from The Police (So Lonely) and a Bob Marley song (No woman no cry). As someone who normally shies live albums, this one was a pleasant surprise. 96/100 Erik Morren. |
