Band : Hatebreed After the release Of the dvd ‘live Dominance’ Hatebreed now gives us an album full of covers. Not just some songs from other bands, no, 18 classics is what they give us. It’s a feast, believe us. Besides some hardcore classics like ‘Your Mistake’ (Agnostic Front), ‘Set It off’ (Madball) en ‘Shut me Out’ (Sick Of Ot All) they also choose some heavy metal songs that are forever craved in our memories. ‘refuse/resist’ (Sepultura) rages like it’s never done before and we were completely blown away by ‘I’m In Pain’ (Obituary). Of course bring Jamey Jesta and his pals a tribute to Metallica but in a very surprising way. Who would have guessed that they would cover ‘Escape’? The recording was at the end of 2008. In February of this year guitar player Sean martin told his friend he would be leaving. He’s now replaced by Wayne Lozinak who already played with Hatebreed up until 1996. Together with him Hatebreed recorded another 4 songs including ‘Ghost of war’ (Slayer) and a smashing version of ‘Suicidal maniac’ (Suicidal Tendencies). When a band pull it of to make an album full of covers sound so impressing we bow down out heads. Hardcore lives in 2009 and it’s called Hatebreed. 85/100 Stef Maes. |
