For all of you who have lived under a rock for the last decades, Slipknot is a 9 headed (wearing uniforms and Halloween masks) master (disaster)piece coming all the way from Des Moines Iowa to bring a combination of alternative-, rap- and nu- metal and to give you a show to never forget.

To be honest, Slipknot was one of my favorite bands when I grew up. I remember I wanted to be and play like Mick Thompson (on guitar) so much that I always rolled up my sleeves just like him.
So I was really excited to hear that they were working on the new album called ”All hope is gone”. Especially because it’s been about 3 years since they released their last album “9.0:Live” and 2 years since Voliminal: Inside the Nine” (dvd about Slipknot).
And they made a hell of a comeback with this beauty. The first thing you will notice is that members like Corey Taylor (singer / Stone Sour), Jim Root (on guitar /Stone Sour) have brought elements of their other projects, so this album isn’t just over an hour of pure trashing, screaming or head banging (of which there is still plenty), but there is a more calmer/melodic and emotional kind of approach this time. What proves to me is that these guys have grown a lot and make me wonder what the next stage of the Slipknot evolution will be.

The single sulfur was produced by Dave Fortman and Slipknot and Chris Lord-Alge mixed it. Sulfur gives a good example about the new balance of hard and more melodic style of music (that even surprised my guitar teacher who is everything but metal). So it may not be the best song of the album, be a new anthem or song on wich you can jump the F*** up, but Sulfur still makes people want to sing and headbang to this.
So to all you maggots (as the Slipknot fans like to be called) out there, you have got to check this one out and be warned cause Slipknot is on the Tour and there out for the kill.

92/100
