Band: Steve Morse Album Title: Cruise Control Label : Edel Records Distributor: V2 Records Release Date: 01/12/2008 Release: DVD Steve Morse is an extremely talented, flexible and busy guitar virtuoso. He played in bands such as Dixie Dregs and Kansas. With his solo band he still performs today and has in the past even replaced Ritchie Blackmore in Deep Purple. With this DVD Steve Morse has released a document with two entire concert performances, along with significant extra material. Actually this DVD is the European retail version of the DVD released in 2002 “Steve Morse: Sects Dregs & Rock’n’Roll”. There is also a difference in the contents of the DVD. This European version have concentrated on the two lengthy live performances, improving the sound performance of the Dixie Dregs show by introducing a stereo option. Most of the bonus video material has been dropped from the disc to make space with one exception, a 35 minutes guitar show interview. It’s an impressive release with almost three hours of great material to delight any Steve Morse or Deep Purple fan. The contents are split between his Dixie Dregs and his solo career. The music is stunning throughout but it is a mediocre camera job with a lack of decent close-ups. Steve's music is certainly more than he's been able to exhibit in Deep Purple. 75/100 Guido Claes. |
