Band: Anarbor Alternative Pop Rock act Anarbor’s roots go back to the year 2003 when guitarist (and backing vocalist) Mike Kitlas decided to form a band with his junior high school pals Slade Echeverria (lead vocals), Greg Garrity (drums & backing vocals), and Jess Meyers (bass). The line-up was completed when guitarist/ backing singer Adam Juwig joined up. In March of 2008 the band finally self-released their debut EP Hearing Colours, Seeing Sounds…(which peaked at #62 on Amazon.com’s Top Albums charts) and only a month later (while the guys were still attending high school in Phoenix, Arizona) they were signed to Hopeless Records. The quartet’s Hopeless debut (recorded during June and produced by Mike Green of Paramore, Good Charlotte and The Higheer repute) came with the 4-track EP The Natural Way, released in August. And the label was immediately proven right in their positive evaluation of the band, as the EP entered the Billboard Top Singles Album Chart at #6! In late Summer the guys headed out on tour in support of that EP, but in October Meyers left, and rather than breaking in a new guy, Echeverria took over the additional duties of bassist! It’s this tight outfit which then re-entered the studio with Mike Green to record the 7 tracks (total playing time nearing 23 minutes) which constitute Anarbor’s sophomore official outing! For an introduction of what’s on Free Your Mind, either head out to your local record store (the promo copy ended up in our to-do case a bit late, so the mini-album’s already out on the streets), or surf to myspace.com/anarbor, where you’ll find 2 tracks off the new Ep posted amically alongside 2 off the debut EP and 1 off the demo! I’m sure you’ll agree that the music displays some very nice tensions between the guitars, the lead singer harmoniously backed by the other guys in the band! A very nice Pop Rock act indeed! 86/100 Tony. |
