Band : Telestrion Heavy psych retro rock in the Sabbath/Floyd/Zeppelin/Kiss vein from Telestrion, rising out of the ashes of Qualone, whose debut I’ve reviewed on 25/07/2005. Nothing has changed, except the name and the rhythm section, but God, do I love the twin axe lead guitar players and lead vocalists Andy Samford and Brian Holcomb, who show a range and depth that is not very often seen in today’s young bands, but these Americans easily pull it off. Andy and Brian are no full time screamers, their vocal presence is strong and suited to the 70’s flavour of the album..“Get your mind out” and “Sleeping pill” are my favourites, the first one being a driving, almost roadkill number which reminds me a lot of Bigelf should that say something to anyone and “Sleeping pill” is chocked full of decent amount of good guitar interplay..The band knows how to incorporate a memorable melody, whether it is vocally or within the instruments. The very good use of mood, well-structured songs and musical ability makes this album a good pick for anyone into a 70’s sort of riff rock. Telestrion is an excellent fun album by a GA, US power quartet, and as long as you don't approach it expecting any huge surprises or revalations, fans of the genre will find a lot to enjoy here, and there's enough on show to expect that Telestrion will be more than capable of following it up. 90/100 Cosmicamsseur. |
