Review: CD

Children Of Bodom have become one of the most ‘popular’ Metal bands from Finland. During their career, the band released six studio albums, a few minis and splits, as well as some live albums and a DVD. Last year’s Blooddrunk was highly acclaimed in the international press (even though lots of media were less positive than before), and their live performances mostly are well-received too.
Skeletons In The Closet isn’t a new album, yet a compilation of cover songs from the band members’ favourite artists. However, it isn’t a collection of tracks done by Metal bands only; on the contrary, the choice might seem rather strange from time to time. Of course the album consists of ‘real’ Heavy / Thrash songs from bands as Sepultura, Iron Maiden or Slayer, and Rock tracks from e.g. Ramones, Alice Cooper or Billy Idol. A few titles, however, are remarkable. Among them Britney SpearsOoops!... I Did It Again and Just Dropped In by Kenny Rogers. The latter was inspired by the Coen Brothers’ movie The Big Lebowski, one of the band’s favourite movies, apparently. Hell Is For Children, originally by Pat Benatar, and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Looking At My Back Door (also from The Big Lebowski-score) aren’t that evident choices either.
There’s also a so-called ‘hidden track’: King Diamond’s Waiting.
Nothing more to add…
