Band : Flagtwister In essence, Flagtwister is one Londoner called Andrew Frisby, whom recently parted ways from a band situation (according to his own saying – see one of the blogs at his MySpace page, he’s played/written anything from Screamocore to Dance, Classical to “nasty Pop shit”). At this point I would like to return to the short biography the people at Copro wrote, just because it is simple poetry! So, here goes… “Exasperated, and musically thirsting, Flagtwister stumbled across a muddy pool from which it could see deep into the murky waters of its influences, past and present floating at corresponding depths – if depth is chronological that is… It sat for a while until its focus no longer peered into the pool, but merely saw a 2-dimensional representation of what was once there. On this flat surface reflected the only constant in its life. Flagtwister was born. No genres as of yet to assign, no direction as of yet to recline. The start is the debut single Someone Else’s Game. The end is undetermined.” And on this 2-track single it (Flagtwister, aka Andrew Frisby) plays all instruments (drum and bass programming, guitar) and sings. Well, actually that only goes for the single’s title track, because b-side “Learn” (coming in a demo version) finds one Paul Brown playing the bass and Rob Porter performing the drums. Musically, you get an “alternative” modern Rock, with catchy grooves and melodies overlain with a nicely warm and clean singing voice. Hard to describe or pinpoint it all, really…so best listen to what’s available at myspace.com/flagtwister (where the additional song posted at this moment shows a penchant for wacky electronics in the opening sequence) for your own evaluation. Here’s one looking out for a full-length! At any rate, the current musical “direction” of Flagtwister may soon change, as Frisby has posted the want for musicians to join him in his project, and the open-mindedness to adapt to whomever might be suited both professionally (must have own gear, own means of transportation, and a positive disposition to go with Frisby’s all-round “nice guy”-ness). 87/100 Tony. |
