Band : Lost Department Oompfhhh…so there we have the official album, which differs from the demo I reviewed earlier this year (review posted in early September…which is only 1 ½ months ago, at which time I already told you that this official version of the full-length was forthcoming) only through the booklet (additional artwork) and packaging! The only thing that’s really changed is the background info I can give you. As it turns out, the band had already approached Funtime in May, with the desire to release the album through that label. Regretfully, on top of the label did not having the financial means to make the release happen, they also felt they wouldn’t be able to give the album the appropriate promotional backing, so close to the Summer, and the label therefore left the band free to go somewhere else if they wanted. No dice, said the band, because they really, really wanted the album out on Funtime! Right, my exhuberant thoughts on the album still unwavered as when I was reviewing it the first time, I’ll direct you to that review of mine to check things out…and so the only thing I can do help out some more, is to direct you to the band’s MySpace page (myspace.com/lodep, where you can listen to album opener “Butterfly Effect”), or to one of their upcoming shows in our little Kingdom known as Belgium. So, with the Release Party planned for Dec. 6 at Brussel’s Magasin 4, I can tell you that in between that the band can be seen in Halle (24/10), Mechelen (31/10, @ the Micha venue), Chênée (13/11 @ MDJ De Chênée), and Hoogstraten (28/11, @ JH Cahier). I’m sure additional dates are forthcoming, so keep checking the band’s MySpace page! 98/100 Tony. |
