Review: CD
Last month I heard the two-track album I’ll Be Your Ghost, which was meant as a promotional release for the upcoming debut full length, The Time Of No Time Evermore. It was somewhat surprising to hear this band’s seventies-oriented Heavy Rock on Ván Records, because the label is ‘specialised’ into dark and obscure Metal. Yet the atmosphere, instrumental and (female) vocal equilibrium and lyrical approach are very alike, meaning: grim, introspective, and laughing with a pathetic two-legged filth walking the Earth, called ‘human’.
Main influences seem to come from Roky Erickson’s solo projects, as well as certain bands this multi-talented artist worked with, like The 13th Floor Elevators and The Aliens. Other influences might be Jefferson Airplane, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Coven and Black Widow, and even names as Christian Death, Misfits and Danzig come to mind. The mixture of elements from sixties Psychedelica-Rock, a heavier, more guitar-oriented seventies-approach, and injections of Alternative Rock, Stoner, Death Rock and Doom Metal, might sound pretty catchy from time to time, and the hopping between rocking guitar-driven parts and acoustic ones isn’t that overpowering either. However, the oppressing will please all those who can appreciate uncomplicated yet cold Dark Rock with a seventies-edge.
77/100
