Band : Uriah Heep Taking 12 of their most well known songs from the whole span of their career, the band has re-recorded them and given us a fresh look as some very old and dear friends. Along with that they have 2 brand new songs for this disc to tempt you with. Not much to say here that probably hasn't been said better elsewhere. Basically, this is a great album. I've not really been a Uriah Heep fan, but listening to this album, I was surprised just how familiar I was with their music. Uriah Heep’s Celebration Greatest Hits album has a lot of their awesome music to offer to their fans. Mick Box and Co enjoyed great success in their heyday with their hard organ rock music, and songs like “Lady In Black”, “Free and easy”, “Gypsy”, “Easy Livin'”, “Look At Yourself” and “July Morning” show us why they had what it takes to be famous. I don’t like the first new too commercial sounding song “Only human” that much, but "Corridors of madness” is quite powerful; those guitars, organs and the hard hitting drums make this sound so good and again Uriah Heep does this flawlessly and the vocals by newcomer Bernie Shaw enhance the number as well. The quality of the sound is excellent and I really like the artwork. Of course Heep’s popularity has waned, but Uriah Heep still is one hard rockin’ band that time will not forget. Thumbs up for the next four decades? Cosmicmasseur. |
