I think, that it isn't a secret anymore, Peru has a huge underground psych rock scene with bands like Don Juan De Matus, La Ira De Dios, El Hombre Misterioso, Serpentina Sattellite and Reino Ermitano.  Tlön is another great Peruvian act, named after a story by Borges and is the continuation of Peruvian/Argentine psyche rockers Tarkus who back in 1972 released a now legendary limited self-titled release.

Throughout their 35-minutes we're treated to heaping servings of emotional riffage, solid playing from this tightly knit trio, and excellent songs that demonstrate that Christian Van Lacke, Tarkus member Walo Carillo (drums) and Reino Ermitano member Marcos Coifman (bass) have compositional chops too. Whilst not necessarily psychedelic, it has enough traces of psychedelia to keep many fans happy. At times, the music is reminiscent of Pescado Rabioso (I have 2 cds from this obscure Argentinean 70s rock band received from a barkeep owner of a fantastic metal pub in Santa Cruz in Bolivia, don’t know if the bar still exist) because of the angelic restrained vocals and the soulful guitar chops of Christian Van Lacke, whilst other times it takes on an almost doomy approach to its sound. The band come roaring out of the starting gate with shades of Zeppelin, Necromandus and Pentagram on “La ciudad despierta”, “Mar de manzanas” and “Lulu esta volando”. “Sorus” has a stoned “Planet caravan”-vibe that gets seriously pumped with energy, “Ukbar” and “Ella anda” is gloomy folk-rock with excellent vocal/guitar harmonies and sharp instrumentation. The closing bonus track “Tranquilo reflexion” is a real Tarkus song,a bluesy jam affair.
The more you listen to Tlön, the more you will love it.
