At the beginning of 2007’s Summer, guitarist/ backing singer Laurent and drummer Julien Daiche decided it was time to step into the musical footsteps of their favourite bands Rancid, Strike Anywhere, Comeback Kid, No Use For A Name, Pennywise, NOFX, Smoke Or Fire, Flatliners, Rise Against (and many more of the same ilk, but also The Clash and The Beatles) and start up a band of their own. By the end of the Summer their band is completed when guitarist Vik and singer/ bassist Jay enforce the line-up. Joined by a common urge to vent the boiling rage within, the guys set about writing… and even recording…their own songs.

Thus, by Dec. 2007 the Gembloux (in the French part of Belgium) based quartet already posts a couple of songs off their home-made demo, recorded a month earlier, at their MySpace page (which they’d started up right at the beginning, before they even had songs, and were still a duo). In May 2008 the guys entered the more professional (or so I guess…) Polsky studio with Aurélien Canard to record the six songs on this EP (the real stuff, baby, no cd-R copy thing!) in cooperation with Laurent, whom also mixed the recordings.

As you’ll be able to hear for yourselves when checking out the 5 posted songs (and, by the way, the two aforementioned tracks are also featured on the EP) at (www.)myspace.com/strugglingforreason, SFR copulates PopPunk with melodic Hardcore effortlessly. Their songs may very well be nothing  more than an outlet…but they’re brought with heartfelt feelings and a true sense for the melodies! With only 6 songs on the EP (lasting a mere 16 ½ minutes altogether), SFR kinda leaves the listener with a hunger ffor more, because the band’s tunes are quite enjoyable. The band is now looking for shows to promote their music in live conditions, and wouldn’t mind getting contacted by labels…so, why don’t I give you all of their contact possibilities, eh?
